Director, Philanthropy and Bristol | Arts Council England
Clare Titley joined Arts Council England in 2014 in the newly created post of Director
of Philanthropy. Based in Bristol, Clare has some regional responsibilities in addition
to the national lead for Philanthropy. Clare is programme lead for the Arts Council
England Catalyst strategic funding programmes as well as the associated training
and fellowship scheme put in place to support the sector to build capacity and skills.
Actively working to encourage collaboration and thought leadership on philanthropy,
Clare is passionate about learning lessons and positively influencing arts and cultural
organisations in pursuit of increasing private giving.
Clare has over 15 years of fundraising experience in both international development
and the arts. Before joining Arts Council, Clare was at Welsh National Opera leading
on the organisation’s fundraising from companies, trusts, and individuals. Before
WNO, Clare managed the trust funding team at Save the Children and during her
time visited their work in West Africa to gather children’s stories providing valued
support material for fundraising and marketing. This followed a period of time project
managing several Lottery Funded programmes in India.
Clare is also an Advisory Council member for the National Council for Voluntary
